First one we received had a broken horizontal bar on the base of the chair. However, Amazon replaced immediately. UPS came to the door to pick up the broken item the next day and another one was shipped ASAP. Kudos again to Amazon's return policies and simple process. Second chair was in good shape--no issues. Chair does what it should. Glides smooth and quiet after a month of use and will hopefully continue to do so. Average quality--worth the money you paid. Arm cushions spin around. Recommend tacking cushion to the arm underneath the padding--simple fix solves the problem.

My mother-in-law sent us this glider and I put it together in less than an hour. Our baby is due to arrive any day now and this glider is so very comfortable to rest in in these last days of pregnancy. I can definitely recommend this product -- particularly for the price.

I have had this chair for almost 2 years now, I thought it is a good amount of time to come back and review it. It was easy to put together and holds up well under use. We have found that it isn't the most comfortable for people who are taller who have back trouble. The padding is fairly stiff and therefore doesn't conform to your body shape at all- just stays in it's own shape while you're in it. If we put a couch pillow (throw pillow- not large pillow!) where our lower lumbar area is, it makes the support much better for us. We also use a blanket on the top for some more head support. I'd have liked a bit more give in the cushion, but hey- it is durable, we have been able to work with it ok with the pillow/blanket additions for support. We don't use the ottoman, so I can't comment on that. We've spent hours in this chair from the time our little one was a newborn. The arms of the chair help hold a Boppy Pillow well if you're nursing

Good, but not exactly what I had hoped for..., November 15, 2007

I am relatively happy with this chair, but this wasn't the perfect recliner that I had been hoping for. In the spirit of full disclosure:

- First of all, shipping was over $80 (to IL), so the price listed is a bit misleading.
- The cushions are comfortable, but thin and rather stiff. Don't expect to sink into soft, cushy, leatherette heaven when sitting down.
- Finally, and most importantly, the recliner does not recline particularly far. You won't get anywhere near horizontal on this chair. It's comfortable, but think "economy airline seat" with respect to the angle to which it reclines. This chair is primarily a rocker- and it performs exellently in this respect.

Negatives aside, it's a fine chair. It seems to be very solidly built. It ships fast and is a comfortable rocker. My pets fight to nap on it. I risked ordering the "plum" color, because I wanted a darker chair that would fit in with a dark brown decor. It turns out that the "plum" color is essentially dark brown- with no hint of purple or red- which was perfect for me.

If you are not bothered by any of the issues I described above, then it would certainly be a solid choice.

Tables...design, techniques, joinery, finishes....it is all covered in this book. I have looked for a book on tables for a long time and I finally found this one by Kim Carleton Graves. If you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced woodworker, you will learn something from this excellent book. This book is clear, concise and to the point for all skill levels. Even if you are just wanting to learn something about tables, this is still the book to buy. I very highly recommend it to anyone interested in designing, building or learning about tables. You won't be sorry you bought this book!!!!

I've purchased numerous woodworking books and found this one of the more useful. The photos are excellent and coupled with the text and tips are close to looking over the craftsman's shoulder as he completes each technique.
The book covers a wide range of table styles and techniques. It is useful to the range of woodworkers from beginner to advanced.
Basic operations such as jointing, gluing, mortising are covered as are pattern cutting and veneering. Design, dimension, structural considerations and material selection are discussed in detail. The several chapters are veneering are especially helpful. The table projects themselves range from a basic kitchen table to Queen Anne to torsion box veneered conference tables to veneered circular table. The book is helpful for some one designing a table and uncertain of the size, design or materials to use.
Some good general shop and tool information is also available on K. Carleton Graves web site.

If you need to construct a dining table you would be hard pressed to require a design or construction technique not found in this book.

The introduction covers design criteria specific to dining tables: space required per person, height requirements, and seating arrangements.

The first chapter covers a basic kitchen table using mortise and teno joinery with solid wood. The author then moves through a variety of designs including trestle, circular, queen anne, expanding, and "boat shaped" (i.e. conference) tables, among others. The vineyard table is quite unique.

In addition to the designs a variety of construction and decorative techniques are presented. Mortising machines are discussed side-by-side with mortising chisels. Veneering is in three chapters and curved and circular work comes up in several chapters.

Most of the ideas can be adapted to other types of tables, and the discussion on veneering alone is worthwhile to almost any project. I found it one of the better guides to basic veneering techniques. This book would be suitable for entry level woodworkers as well as experienced ones looking for fresh design ideas and inspiration. Highly recommended.

The product arrived damanged - the trim on the legs were all broken off and the packaging on the outside was torn apart, although it was double boxed and the table top was in good condition. We were disappointed that Amazon wouldn't just replace the legs; instead we had to re-pack the whole table to be returned to Amazon. Amazon arranged to replace the table and it arrived very quickly and it great condition. The table itself is very solid. The legs and table were much more solid than I had anticipated and I'm really pleased - it will last for years. Finish and color is nice. I would ideally have liked a bit darker, but it was as pictured in the photo. I decided to add polyurathane to protect it from the kids and that went very well. Very pleased with the purchase.

I've been looking for an inexpensive dining room table that looked decent but was very discouraged to find almost everything was either out of my price range or made of pressed wood. I was really hesitant to order furniture without seeing it first but this table turned out to be a great buy.

The wood and the finish of the table is beautiful. The color is just a little bit lighter in person than it looks on my monitor. The color of the table fades to a darker shade at the edges which gives it a lot of depth and personality. The construction is solid and sturdy. It is big enough to seat six people.

The carton it comes in is very big and very heavy. Everything was packaged well and there was no damage to the table itself even though the packaging was bent when it arrived. Assembly is quick and easy, although having a person available to help with the lifting is great because, again, this is a heavy table. You will need an adjustable wrench for the assembly.

I am extremely happy with this purchase. It is much nicer than I expected.

The "Swivel Glider Rocker Chair with Ottoman Black" we received is not the same Glider as pictured in the product description. We have a glider identical to the pictured glider, but the one we received is smaller (width) and the Ottoman is smaller and sits lower. I would have sent it back, but repackaging would have been a hassle. Buyer beware when ordering furniture online.
